I'm a junior in college, studying English with a concentration in Literature. I love books. I love the way they can wrap you up in a world you didn't even know you'd entered. I don't love every book I read, but I can appreciate the world that it creates for me, or the beauty of the author's words.
But books are not my only love. I also love dogs. They, like books, have a way of taking you away from the pain and sadness of the day and capture you in their love and loyalty. My dog, Cady, is excited when I come home whether it's been a week or an hour. She never holds a grudge, and she always lavishes me with kisses.
That's what dogs do. They give love to their caretakers. It's not hard to love them back.
